The Night of the Living Cat manga series is being adapted into an anime, scheduled to premiere in 2025. A trailer and images were released as part of the announcement. No details about staff and cast have been announced at the time of this writing.
The Night of the Living Cat is a comic book series written by Hawkman and illustrated by Mecha-Roots. It has been serialized by Mag Garden’s Monthly Comic Garden since October 2020. As of this writing, five volumes have been published, the latest being released on February 22.
Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga in English, describing the plot as: A virus spreads across the world, turning the entire human race into wild, enslaved, furry beasts: to be exact. cat. The few remaining human survivors take refuge in the dark corners of the earth as they fight against the cats. Kunagi, a man with no memory of his past but a deep understanding of cats, struggles to survive using only his wits and will to survive. However, the virus is only transmitted through hugs, and Kunagi finds kittens irresistible! Is his will strong enough to endure this hair-raising cat attack?
The anime adaptation announcement was released to coincide with International Cat Day in Japan. The post-apocalyptic nature and comedic tone of the manga shares similarities with the 2018 four-panel manga Doomsday With My Dog, which was adapted into an anime that aired from August 2022 to February 2023.
