Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian introduces some familiar names for the upcoming anime adaptation.
The team behind Alya Sometimes Hiding Her Emotions in Russian, often shortened to Roshidere, has released a key image of female lead Alisa “Alya” Mikhailovna Kujou. The official statement from ‘But, she doesn’t know that I can speak Russian’,” teases fans from the perspective of the main character, Masachika Kuze (voiced by Kōhei Amasaki). “Looking forward to the broadcast!”
Alya’s voice actors are Sumire Uesaka (Urusei Yatsura), Aizawa Saya (Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation) as Ayano Kimishima, Yukiyo Fujii (Komi Can’t Communication) as Marsha, and Wakana Maruoka (Girls’ Frontline), who will plays Yuki Suō, all newly announced. Aizawa, Yukiyo and Wakana thank fans for their support while Wakana teases fans about what they should expect from Yuki.
Doga production studio Kobo will handle the animation, which most recently attracted attention for its critically acclaimed adaptation of Oshi no Ko. The staff can also bring a sense of anticipation for the upcoming anime, which fans of Shikimori’s Not Just A Cutie and My Senpai is Annoying can feel excited about. Director Ryota Itou, who also directed Episode 1 of Oshi no Ko, which was previously the highest-rated anime episode ever, will return to direct the series. He reunited with Animation Director Yūhei Murota. Ryō Kobayashi serves as Series Producer.
A condensed excerpt from Volume 1 of Roshidere from publisher Yen Press reads: “Alisa Mikhailovna Kujou is the ‘lone princess’ of Seiren Private Academy. She is a half-Russian beauty with silver hair, top of her class, student council accountant and…completely unapproachable. For some reason, she is also responsible for reprimanding the lazy boy. sit next to me in class. constantly frustrating her by oversleeping, forgetting textbooks, and just being a non-model student.”
“She may act tough,” the excerpt continues, “but she doesn’t mind Masachika as much as others think. She even lets him call her by her nickname, Alya. Whoever heard those comments she muttered in Russian. Her breathing can tell how she really feels, but since no one in the class understands the language, she is free to say whatever she likes! Except…there was one person who knew what she was talking about. Masachika eavesdrops on her embarrassing revelations, feigning ignorance, all the while wondering what her flirtations really mean!”
