Afterward All is possible retired in My Hero Academy, Endeavor replaced him as the #1 hero, and although he’s almost worse than All Might, there’s one key point that makes him better. This quality has been largely overlooked due to mangaka Kohei Horikoshi’s focus on Endeavor’s abusive nature, which is considered reasonable since the hero is not someone who should be idolized. But there is a fact that brings up an interesting comparison between the superhero styles of Endeavor and All Might.
Endeavor is the rough and abusive father Shoto Todoroki, whose main goal in life at the beginning of the series is to surpass All Might to become the No. 1 hero. To achieve this goal, Endeavor strives to create a the child has the perfect combination of abilities to be strong enough to do this if Endeavor itself fails. When Shoto was born, this prompted Endeavor to mercilessly train him, neglect his other children, and destroy his family. Endeavor has been trying to atone for these actions lately, especially as his eldest son Dabi re-emerges as one of the most destructive villains in My Hero Academia. But his focus at the start of his career was very different.
Endeavor has stopped more criminals than all in My Hero Academia
In chapter #3, it is revealed that while All Might is the #1 hero, Endeavor is the hero who has prevented the most crimes. What makes this all the more impressive is that Endeavor has prevented the most crimes in recorded history. Of course, in the world of My Hero Academia, superheroes are only a few generations old, so this is less impressive than imagined, but it’s still not a trivial achievement. It also implies that while All Might was able to stave off many of the most powerful threats to society like All For One, Endeavor probably thwarted many much smaller threats.
This achievement fits well with Endeavor’s original characterization as someone who strives for top hero status. After all, one potential way to top the rankings is to stop as many crimes as possible, no matter how big or small they are. However, despite the cynical reasoning behind it, this shows that Endeavor has an important role that All Might cannot. After all, small crimes can affect their victims just as much as big crimes and so having someone take the time to prevent them is extremely important.
This is not to say that All Might wouldn’t have prevented smaller-scale crimes if he had known they were happening as he certainly would. But Endeavor’s unwavering devotion to his cause allowed him to easily surpass All Might in this regard, suggesting that the main hero could have done more to help. By this way, All is possiblethe replacement of My Hero Academy not a complete downgrade as many fans believe.
