When it comes to manga, there are very few artists who can compare to Akira Toriyama. From Dragon Ball to Dr. Slump and even Dragon Quest, Toriyama has helped create some of the best series in Japanese manga/anime.
And recently, Haruka Takachiho – a famous face in the anime and manga industry – founder of Studio Nue did something very special related to Akira Toriyama.
Being a good friend of the Dragon Ball author, Haruka Takachiho shared some of Toriyama's never-before-published manuscripts, which he archived on social networks.
The Legacy of Akira Toriyama
As you can see above, the manuscript posted by Takachiho introduced a series that Toriyama hoped to publish, but the manuscript was never approved. The Dragon Ball author's iconic art style looks amazing in this manuscript page. Therefore, we can feel that the above manuscript has a very familiar feeling. It shares many features with the style of Dragon Ball, as well as Dr. Slump.
According to Takachiho, he received these never-before-seen manuscripts from Toriyama himself. “He kept them in his house, stacked as high as he was, and told me, 'You can take as many as you want,' but I hesitated to take just a few copies, and this was one of them.” there.”
The founder of Studio Nue said he wanted to donate these rare manuscripts to a museum. There was a proposal for an Akira Toriyama Museum made by the artist's hometown after his death. Takachiho said he would be happy to donate this work of art to the museum for free, and he also kept many more manuscripts.
What will the future of Dragon Ball be like?
The full story behind Toriyama's manuscript remains unclear, but hopefully one day, a museum will be able to display it. Any of Toriyama's works deserve to be treasured.
The world mourned together when news of Toriyama's death was announced in early 2024. From fan-organized memorials to city murals and more, the Dragon Ball creator and Sand Land has been honored by millions. Now, his legacy has grown to new heights and fueled new generations of fans.
For Dragon Ball, Toriyama created a franchise that would live on long after his death. This October, Dragon Ball Daima will be released and Toriyama invested a lot of effort into this anime. From plot to setting and character design, Toriyama helped Toei Animation create this ambitious story. Dragon Ball Daima will release on October 11.
