Jason DeMarco — senior vice president of anime and action/series at Warner Bros. Animation (WBA) and Cartoon Network Studios (CNS) — stated on Twitter on Friday that while Adult Swim”considers ratings [FLCL: grunge] and [FLCL: Shoegaze] was a success and very pleased with their performance,”the company”will not be making any more.”DeMarco thanked the fans for helping make the two films a success.
FLCL: grunge and FLCL: Shoegaze are two new seasons of the FLCL anime. DeMarco is executive producer and US Production IG Maki Terashima-Furuta (FLCL Alternative, Fena: Pirate Princess) is producer for both seasons.
FLCL: grunge premieres on Adult Swim on September 9 and has three episodes. FLCL: Shoegaze opens September 30.
Hitoshi Takekiyo directs FLCL: grunge at MontBlanc Pictures. The CGI anime focuses on three teenagers who have graduated and started working. The anime has a theme about what it feels like to become an adult.
Yutaka Uemura (FLCL Alternative) is directing FLCL: Shoegaze at Production IG and NUT. The anime takes place 10 years after FLCL Alternative and revolves around a male and female high school student.
FLCL Alternative and FLCL Progressive are previous sequels to FLCL.
