Kodansha’s K Manga service has revealed its latest work, Suu Morishita’s award-winning Japanese manga, A Sign of Affection (Yubisaki to Renren).
This announcement follows recent changes regarding the availability of manga on other platforms. Sharing a post on its official X account (formerly Twitter), Kodansha USA Publisher announced that it will simultaneously release the manga on multiple digital platforms, creating sound resonate in the hearts of fans.
The plot of A Sign of Affection revolves around Yuki, an ordinary college student whose world revolves around friends, social media trends, and shopping. A chance encounter on a train sets the stage for her chance meeting with Itsuomi-san, a classmate. As the two get to know each other, Yuki’s world expands, however, the language barrier creates an obstacle for the couple because Itsuomi-kun is unfamiliar with sign language.
First appearing on the pages of Kodansha’s Dessert magazine in July 2019, A Sign of Affection quickly became popular. However, an unexpected event earlier this year resulted in the manga being removed from these platforms. The manga has been critically acclaimed, receiving nominations for Best Shōjo Manga at the annual Kodansha Manga Awards for three consecutive years.
A Sign of Affection has also inspired a musical theatrical play in 2021. Additionally, it is also slated for an animated debut in January 2024, on Crunchyroll. Yūta Murano, known for works like Kakushigoto and Brave Beats, will direct, while Yoko Yonaiyama will write the script. The art design of the anime was done by Kasumi Sakai, who is best known for her work Love Live! Sunshine!!, and the soundtrack will be composed by Yukari Hashimoto.
The compiled ninth volume of the manga is slated to hit shelves on July 13. Readers can expect the seventh volume to premiere on October 24.
Signs of affection are now available on K Manga.
