Anime adaptation of MAPPA about chainsaw man is a very popular hit in the anime community and part of the reason why the excellent work of the manga is based on it. Even before the anime adaptation brought public interest in Chainsaw Man, series author Tatsuki Fujimoto’s unique narrative style captured the hearts of Shonen Jump readers.
Fujimoto’s writing has been noted for being simple and easy to follow, yet retaining the appearance of deeper meaning by the time the reader has finished reading his work. The popular mangaka admitted it when discussing his creative process with fellow manga artist Samura Hiroaki, creator of Blade of The Immortal in a JUMP+ collaboration interview. Given its success to date, Chainsaw Man is easily Fujimoto’s most citation-worthy work, and the eleven-volume Season One is brimming with great quotes. Ranging from their silliness to their unexpected depth, Chainsaw Man doesn’t disappoint in its dialogue.
“I will make you the worst of the bad guys” – Kishibe
Every Shonen deserves a training arc, and Chainsaw Man is no different. After the events with Katana Man, Denji and Power were assigned to train under the most powerful Demon Hunter in all areas of public safety, Kishibe. An alcoholic middle-aged man who closely resembles a particularly famous Danish actor, Kishibe has some outspokenness and is not one to be easily looked down upon.
His hybrid and yōkai training is the most brutal form of education a person can receive. It was he who instilled in Denji the idea to think more outside the box and not always rely on the intellect. But what he really succeeds in doing is making Denji the toughest demon hunter ever, which allows him to defeat the real Chainsaw Man’s evil.
“All demons are born with a name” – Makima
Sometimes a little explanatory dialogue is needed for an expansive story like Chainsaw Man, and there’s no character to explain better than Makima herself. The power of evil in Chainsaw Man’s realm is at its most basic compared to Jujutsu Kaisen’s curses/villains, but they all represent humanity’s greatest fear: “The name The scarier it is, the stronger the devil himself.” Sea Cucumber and Tomato Devils are more likely to be on the weaker side, while more dangerous weapons like chainsaws will tend to instill fear the most, as the manga shows with its eponymous protagonist. This also foreshadows the existence of the fearsome Primal Demons in Chainsaw Man, who are playing a larger role in Season 2.
“I Love Me Some Bad Guys!” – Denji
“Because no one will complain when I kill them!” Denji is not known for small words, and his lack of tact when dealing with enemies can be hilarious at times. This is part of what makes him one of Shonen Jump’s most unique heroes. Denji is the definition of a character who speaks before thinks and acts before he speaks, so it’s fitting that they’re the only characters to add “ize” wherever they see fit as possible in their own way. 90s action star when providing a funny one liner. This makes the way he happily tears up the series’ various villains even more interesting.
“It’s great to be addicted” – Himeno
Everyone has a vice, whether it’s something small and harmless or something more harmful. However, they all have one thing in common: they offer a temporary outlet. In anime and manga, there is no shortage of cigarette addicts and Chainsaw Man is no exception. In their dangerous lives, Demon Hunters sometimes need something to get ahead.
As part of a career with a survival rate of around 30%, it’s easy to forgive people for indulging themselves to relieve fear and stress. However, Himeno can go a bit far as she easily smokes a pack a day and gets drunk; she enjoys what she can, and that’s not always ideal. After seeing so many of her friends leave like flies, it’s amazing that she never became like Kishibe. Her addiction may not be healthy, but it leads to one of the most tragic moments in Chainsaw Man’s final episode.
“Watch this Denji! And tell stories!” – Power
There’s no denying that Bloody Demon Power has a way of saying it. She always manages to sound more “decent” than she really is by adding “’tis” to every sentence she utters. True power is the embodiment of someone who randomly chooses words to make himself sound smarter. Fujimoto is actually based on Power based on South Park’s Eric Cartman, and her personality is very similar. However, the way she delivered her speech made her sound like an amateur Dungeons & Dragons player and readers wouldn’t be otherwise. She is easily one of the best characters to feature in the series and many viewers can find themselves quoting her quote about “How strong is the strongest of them ALL! “
“The enemy is the enemy…We only take advantage of them” – Aki Hayakawa
Aki Hayakawa has one of the most influential character lines in the series, being one of Chainsaw Man’s most tragic characters. From his introduction, Aki was determined to eliminate the threat that is the Devil that is raging the world. After all, it was Gun Devil who shot and killed his entire family. His mission is to collect all the pieces of Gun’s flesh to destroy it. But along the way, he’s learned to care about a certain pair of demons even at the cost of his own revenge, making the irony add to his “no intention to be friendly with a demon.” devil” became even more resounding.
“Fear of the Devil [Hunters] With Some Loose Screws” – Kishibe
After seeing Denji in action, Himeno recalled this ancient Kishibe saying about demon hunters from her drunken mentor about how unpredictable and irrational fools are the ones who make demons. most afraid. This quote is one of the most important to contextualize some truly eccentric characters working for Public Safety. This was even later proven to be true during their clash with the Demon Doll, Santa Claus, when they were unable to understand Denji’s mind was burned alive in the midst of their fiery battle. It is absurd to try and understand the absurd.
“Everyone is after my chainsaw heart!” – Denji
Denji isn’t usually a character who says something too profoundly about whatever’s going on around him. Occasionally, however, he proves to be smart enough to grasp the tiniest details of his plight. This is further demonstrated in Bomb Girl, where he finds himself easily falling for Reze, another impressive girl who comes into his life and who has a small cameo at the end of the first season of Chainsaw Man. When it’s revealed that she’s a foreign agent tasked with winning the Chainsaw Man’s heart, this ultimately breaks his heart. More than that, he realizes that every woman he meets tries to kill him at some point, making it even more heartbreaking for him to realize no one wants his love.
“Real bad things are always… controlled by the state” – Makima
Makima is no exaggeration when dealing with an entire gang of Yakuza. It’s no coincidence that Makima is the only character in Chainsaw Man that fits the description of perfection, which is part of what makes her Shonen Jump’s best modern villain. This was set before she was finally revealed to be the Demon of Control, however her earlier actions still suggest that she is the epitome of necessary evil. Her series of contracts with various powers across Japan has made her the woman in supreme control. She can only control those she believes are “under her”, so it can be understood that the only person she can never really control is the Chainsaw Man. .
“Will There Still Be Joke Movies?” – Denji
The final confrontation between the protagonist and the villain is not a clash of fists but a clash of ideals. After Makima’s true goals are revealed in the Demon Control Arc, it becomes clear that she wants to achieve them by any means necessary. Denji’s story is a story of stagnant growth, he’s not intellectually mature in any way, but he’s made sense of the world around him. So when he directed a question regarding Makima’s true purpose of eliminating people’s right to self-determination for the sake of peace, he asked in the most personal way possible. It is his claim to believe that happiness can only be truly appreciated when there is suffering or in this case horror movies. It’s one of Chainsaw Man’s most heartbreaking quotes, and also makes it one of the best lines of the series.
Chainsaw Man wouldn’t be a popular series if it weren’t quoted. More than just being super funny or entertaining, though, all of the series’ best quotes reveal deeper elements. At first glance, Power’s ramblings can be riotous, but in hindsight, they actually reveal a lot about who she is and what she values. Likewise, much of Makima’s dialogue takes on a dual meaning after it’s revealed that she’s the final antagonist of Season One. Chain saw machineThe best quotes symbolize what makes the series such a classic.
