Warning: Contains spoilers for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba season 3, episode #11 and episode #23.Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba season 3 just ended, and it may finally have solved one of the manga’s greatest mysteries. The “Blacksmith’s Village” arc ends with the main reveal that Nezuko, unlike every other demon, cannot be killed by sunlight, which then puts her in the center of the final arc played by Muzan. wants to eat her to gain the same immunity and become truly immortal. However, despite being such an important event, the manga never really explains why Nezuko is immune to sunlight, not even in any of the data books, and it becomes into one of the biggest unresolved issues towards the end of the series.
The Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba manga never explained Nezuko’s immunity to sunlight, but the anime may finally have answered that. In the end of Demon Slayer Season 3, it is described that Tamayo analyzed Nezuko’s blood, it was revealed that Nezuko’s blood has blue elements, and because Blue Spider Lily has the power to cure Muzan from his weakness With sunlight, the anime was able to reveal that Nezuko’s immunity came from Blue Spider Lily at some point. The explanation for this can be found in one of the data books, and it both explains one of the series’ final twists and makes Muzan’s failure all the more ironic.
Nezuko’s immunity to sunlight in Demon Hunter is bound to Blue Spider Lily
Nezuko ate Blue Spider Lily at some point which could explain her immunity to sunlight, and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba worked to prove it. According to the second official database, the Blue Spider Lily bloomed near the Kamado family’s home, and Tanjiro was told its location by his mother at some point. The same data book also states that Tanjiro is the only child who has ever seen them bloom, but that doesn’t mean his siblings have never seen them, so Nezuko can still see them. and eat Blue Lilies at some point, which will eventually result in her becoming immune to sunlight like a demon.
Something like this could also explain one of the final twists of the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba manga. Moments before Muzan’s death, Muzan turned Tanjiro into a demon in a desperate attempt to keep his legacy alive, and like Nezuko, Tanjiro is immune to sunlight with no explanation. like him other than that he’s Nezuko’s brother. However, going along with the theory that Nezuko’s immunity came from eating Blue Spider Lily, Tanjiro’s immunity could have the same explanation, and that could add more logic to those nothing else is a poorly explained pair of episodes.
Demon Slayer’s Blue Spider Lily Makes Muzan’s Failure Better
The Kamado family knowing where the Spider Lily blooms may explain why Nezuko is immune to sunlight, and it also has the effect of adding depth to Muzan’s defeat. In the final chapter of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, it is revealed that Blue Spider Lily only blooms a few times a year during the day, meaning that Muzan has spent centuries searching for something he couldn’t get his hands on. . The irony is that it’s so obvious, and it becomes all the more powerful if Tanjiro and Nezuko actually get the power Muzan seeks thanks to the humanity Muzan despises.
That irony highlights Muzan’s biggest flaw in the series: his utter contempt for humanity. Muzan was never able to understand the worth of humans, and unlike the other demons, he carried his hatred to the grave when his last move fell right in front of him. As such, if Tanjiro and Nezuko were able to partially survive on the Blue Spider Lily, which they only got through their humanity, that point would sell even more. All add a lot of depth to Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaibaand the anime adds to that by better explaining how Nezuko’s powers play a major role in it.
