Shueisha Leaks, a Twitter account dedicated to news and leaks about the anime industry, recently announced that the sci-fi comedy series will soon receive an official announcement about the anime. The manga, written by Yukinobu Tatsu, has been hugely popular since its release in 2021, with many fans expressing their desire for an anime adaptation. According to this leak, those fans can expect official news about the adaptation sooner rather than later.
Fans want to know which Studio will adapt the Manga
The post features some speculation from potential studio accounts, asking users who they think will produce the project. One commenter suggested that it would be Bones, the animation studio known for popular titles like Bungo Stray Dogs, Noragami, Mob Psycho 100, My Hero Academia, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, etc. Still no official confirmation was aware of the validity of this claim at the time of writing, but more information will be available upon receipt.
Other commenters were delighted by the alleged announcement, filling the replies with words of encouragement. Many of them consider the series to be one of the best “new generation” properties and they hope the anime will be good. Another includes a panel from the manga with the main characters screaming in celebration. However, some cast doubt on the announcement, questioning the accuracy of the post.
Dandadan is a sci-fi romantic comedy about two high school students and their strange adventures. The film follows Momo Ayase, a young girl who believes in the occult, and Okarun, an eccentric child obsessed with aliens. Both question the other’s beliefs, claiming that only supernatural versions of themselves exist. However, they are soon thrown into a world of chaos when they discover that ghosts and aliens are real.
Some have described the manga as an anime-inspired version of The X-Files, thanks to its themes and the romance between the main characters. It sold so well, it even ranked 10th on the most read list on Shueisha’s MANGA Plus service, outpacing Mashle: Magic and Muscles, Naruto: Sasuke’s Story and Kaiju at No. 8. While the manga was at No. 8. succeeded, its author was in trouble, because he once accidentally deleted the last pages of a chapter.
Dandadan fans can read the manga on MANGA Plus and through the VIZ Media website with a Shonen Jump subscription.
