The anticipation for Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 261 couldn't be higher thanks to the crazy plot twist in the previous chapter.
Gege Akutami has thrown a bone at Gojo's die-hard fans. However, based on JJK's past problems, fans should have thrown caution to the wind.
Gege has never bowed to the wishes of his fans and once again he pulled the rug out from under everyone's feet – Gojo is back but with a crazy twist.
Simply put, Yuta Okkotsu has become Gojo Satoru. The prodigy took over his master's body, and it was clear that the entire fandom was shocked.
For a second, Gege gave everyone culture shock – seeing the stitches on Gojo's forehead made me feel like Kenjaku had somehow masterminded another punch. However, the mastermind behind this action is none other than Yuta Okkotsu.

How did Yuta take over Gojo's body?
Short answer – Yuta takes over Gojo's body by copying Kenjaku's body-jumping curse technique.
After killing him at Gosho Lake Colony, Yuta forced Rika to eat Kenjaku. This allows him to use Kenjaku's technique and transfer his brain to Gojo's corpse.
The blue-eyed king is back, but at what cost?
Remember how Kenjaku said in the Shibuya arc that Yuta could never become Gojo Satoru? Looks like he did it himself!!
Yuta becoming Gojo might be a surprise to us fans, however, this plan was in place even before the fight against Sukuna began.
And when Sukuna kills Gojo, everyone proceeds to carry out this plan.
After Ui Ui retrieves Gojo's body, Shoko gets to work immediately—stitching his body up so Yuta can transfer his brain to do so if necessary.
We need to remember this, taking over Gojo's body was only Yuta's last resort. Only when all other measures failed did he take this drastic step.
Despite his best efforts, Yuta also fell into the same predicament as Gojo – being cut in half thanks to Sukuna's world slashing.
However, he was able to retain consciousness thanks to Rika's intervention. Brought back to Shoko, Yuta realizes that taking over Gojo's body is the only way forward.
Before losing consciousness, Shoko transferred Yuta's brain to Gojo's body.
Yuta activated Kenjaku's technique, and then he used full-force RCT to repair Gojo's body! Finally, the takeover was complete.
Of course you might ask – if Yuta can use RCT to repair Gojo's body, then why can't Gojo himself do it. Well, it was only thanks to Shoko sewing up the body that RCT was able to do the rest.
Why did Yuta do that? Understanding the monster:
Let's take a closer look at Yuta's decision in this chapter.
From the beginning, Yuta was identified as someone who liked to share the burden with those people. around him. His personality is like that.
Even the controversial decision to take over Gojo's body stems from that.
Yuta understands that facing a monster like Sukuna will not be easy. If Gojo died, it would only put them in a difficult position.
His concerns were not misplaced. Even after Gojo caused significant damage to Sukuna, the others were still unable to defeat him easily.
Yuta understood long ago that if they had a chance of defeating Sukuna then becoming monsters was the only way to do it.
Being ethical and following a humane path is not an option.
And so, his solution to overcome this is to use Gojo's body to give them an advantage in combat. He even discussed his decision with Gojo!
When Gojo was alive, he shouldered the burden of Jujutsu society. He was forced to become a monster because he was the strongest.
After his death, this burden will clearly have to be shared by the younger generation, who have proven themselves more capable.
However, Yuta being Yuta decided to take on that role himself.
The responsibility I am talking about here is to address the obvious and present danger – Sukuna!
Let me say this, Gojo was and is the best bet to defeat the King of Curses. Yuta doesn't want to give up that option.
That was certainly cruel for Gojo—treating his body as a weapon even after he died. But this is the world of jujutsu we are talking about. In the end, defeating a scourge like Sukuna is the only thing that matters.
This adds clearer context to why Hakari mentions Yuta, while humanity's conversation comes up.
By taking over Gojo's body, Yuta not only proves his faith – he also proves once again that he can come through at the most crucial moment.
He is willing to put his life and humanity at risk, if it means those around him can have a better life. Even back in JJK 0, he was willing to sacrifice his life against Geto so he could save his friends.
The current situation is no different. The stakes are pretty high, because no one knows what the outcome of this body switch will be!
Yuta's life is in high danger!!
Yuta has definitely managed to transfer his brain to Gojo's body and take over, however, he is still not out of danger.
As detailed in JJK 261, Yuta can only use one copying technique for a maximum of 5 minutes. This leads to three possible situations after switching bodies.
If Kenjaku's cursed technique had to be continuously activated for the body switch to work, then that would mean Yuta could no longer maintain his brain in Gojo's body after five minutes. It's basically game over for him.
On the other hand, if Kenjaku's cursed technique had to activate at certain intervals or even intermittently, it would still result in Yuta's death once the CT's effect wore off.
The final and best case scenario for Yuta is to be able to stay in Gojo's body for the rest of his life. For that to happen, Kenjaku's technique only needs to activate once. And with that, the body swap will be complete.
Even then, Yuta can still lose a lot. Technically, he will lose his body and identity – changing his life as he knows it.
We don't even know if he can use the Copy Technique while possessing Gojo's body.
Despite all the upheavals, Yuta still decided to carry out his plan to possess Gojo. Well, that's partly motivated by the circumstances he finds himself in, but still—it shows that Yuta is definitely capable of becoming a top wizard.
This earned him praise and recognition from Sukuna. To see why – let's look at what the Cursed King said to Jogo in Shibuya.
You should have burned everything you wanted to ashes to reach the peak of Satoru Gojo and not worry about your future or your identity.
Sukuna to Jogo
Yuta's actions are reminiscent of Sukuna's advice. He puts his identity and future on hold to achieve his goal – defeating Sukuna.
If that isn't proof that he reached the same heights as his teacher – then I don't know what is.
