Warning: Spoilers for Demon Slayer: The Swordsmith Village Arc Ahead One of the Deadliest Threats in demon slayer so far is the demon Shang Si called Hantengu. Hantengu is one of the main antagonists of the ongoing Swordsmith Village part of the anime, but he has an incredibly complex and confusing set of powers. Here are Hantengu’s main abilities and powers explained.
Hantengu is first shown in the form of a demon crying, snorting, cowering as the other High Priests argue with each other. However, it turns out that he wasn’t just afraid of his fellow demons; he’s geared toward everyone, with a victim complex to match. So, how did a demon like this get to rank among Muzan’s elite demons? As it turns out, this has more to do with his demonic powers, making the cowardly main body never need to go to war.
Hantengu’s ability explained
When Tanjiro first saw Hantengu, he was immediately attacked and seemingly split in half by Mistira. However, this attack fails to kill the demon, but instead, results in him being split into two other demons, each of which has an emotion attached to it. Hantengu eventually created four demons using this ability: Anger, Joy, Suffering, and Joy. The angry demon, Sekido, is the embodiment of rage and fury, attacking violently and mercilessly and fighting with a priest’s scepter using lightning bolts. Karaku, the expression of joy, treats the battle with the Demon Hunter as a game, doesn’t care much for life or death, and fights with a fan that can generate high winds. The demon of sadness, Aizetsu, has a moody demeanor, keeping him calm and composed in the midst of battle. Urogi, the embodiment of joy, acts as if in ecstasy, laughing hysterically as he fights killers with sonic attacks. In this split form, Hantengu himself still exists, but he is shrunk down to a very small size, which allows him to hide in the bushes to avoid being attacked. The emotional demons are not decapitated, which means that the only way to victory is to find and defeat Hantengu’s real body.
As a result, Tanjiro and Genya turned to attack Hantengu directly, but this activated another new ability. The emotional demons are absorbed back into a single being, but still separate from the base Hantengu. This new form is called Zohakuten, and is described as a manifestation of Hantengu’s hatred. He behaves as if he is right, and acts using a strange kind of legitimate anger, accusing Tanjiro of bullying Hantengu. His design is reminiscent of the legendary Japanese god of thunder, Raijin, with a drum ring in the back. He can control trees and wooden objects, as well as use the abilities of the other four demons. But Hantengu has one last ability: Urami, the expression of resentment. This one can change its size to become giant, and eventually conceal Hantengu in its body to protect him.
There is no other demon with so many forms and expressions, which clearly shows that Hantengu is worthy of his place as the Upper Four Demons in the series. demon slayer.
