At the 10th Anime Trend Awards, 10 unique anime won out of 11 available genre categories. With so many strong competitors in each category, the votes are tough.
Tengoku Daimakyou is the only series to win two genre awards this year: Mystery or Psychological Anime of the Year and Supernatural Anime of the Year, very reminiscent of the series winning the seasonal of two genre awards type. Unfortunately, Tengoku Daimakyou failed to receive Action or Adventure Anime of the Year or Science Fiction or Mecha Anime of the Year, falling behind by only 153 votes and 155 votes respectively.
Instead, Jujutsu Kaisen Part 2 won Action or Adventure Anime of the Year, while Dr. STONE New World won the award for Science Fiction or Mecha Anime of the Year. It’s likely that MAPPA’s brilliant depiction of the Shibuya Incident Arc in Jujutsu Kaisen convinced fans to vote for the magic-based series, while Dr. Stone’s exhilarating post-apocalyptic setting continued continues to reveal new truths that keep fans fascinated.
Coming in at the bottom of the list, MASHLE: MAGIC AND MUSCLES won Comedy Anime of the Year thanks to its straightforward (pun intended) comedy that outshines 100 Girls Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You with 334 votes. Not surprisingly, [OSHI NO KO] went on to win more awards by winning Animated Drama of the Year. It barely passed with 197 votes against My Happy Marriage.
In a close competition for Fantasy Anime of the Year, The Eminence in Shadow won the award with 9 additional votes over Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation S2. It must be the naturalness of Cid Kagenou (voiced by Seiichirou Yamashita) that fascinates fans, even though he himself is an obnoxious faker. This win now gives The Eminence in Shadow two annual awards, with Yamashita winning Best Voice Actor of the Year. However, this is not the only series to have both genre and voice acting awards at this year’s Anime Trending Awards.
My Happy Marriage came out on top with a win in the Romance Anime of the Year category, beating out popular rival The Dangers of My Heart by 260 votes. Although Kiyoka and Miyo were unable to receive the Best Couple of the Year award after the tumultuous events of the series, the quiet defiance and courage of Miyo Saimori (voiced by Reina Ueda) must have won them over. attracting fans to support her. This win now brings two annual awards for the My Happy Wedding books, with Ueda winning Best Voice Actress of the Year.
Following in the footsteps of Tengoku Daimakyou as a Disney+ licensed series, Blue Orchestra won Anime Music of the Year awards for popular series such as BanG Dream!, iDOLM@STER, Love Live! and HYPNOSIS MIC. While Blue Orchestra is far from the first series to break up the monotony between these four series with 497 additional votes to its name, it’s refreshing to see a new entry in the ranks.
Two other awards remain, although their popularity pales in comparison to SPY X FAMILY S2 and BLUE LOCK winning Slice of Life of the Year and Sports Anime of the Year respectively. SPY
