The following contains key revelations for Part 1 of the Chainsaw Man manga, by Tatsuki Fujimoto, Amanda Haley, and Sabrina Heep, now available in English from Viz Media.
If things had turned out differently, Chainsaw Man fans could have witnessed the birth of a tumultuous and beautiful new friendship.
Talented character designer and concept artist Akaigu illustrated a Chainsaw Man “what if” scenario about the friendship between Blood Fiend Power and Asa Mitaka, the protagonist of the manga’s second season. . Power wears the same school uniform as Asa, indicating that they both attend the same school. The Blood Fiend showed a grin as she wrapped both arms around Asa, while the Blood Fiend seemed a bit overwhelmed with the level of attention she was receiving. “I think they could be great friends,” Akaigu wrote in their caption, mourning what might have happened if Power hadn’t been killed.
Despite how different Power and Asa are, with the former having a bold personality and the latter preferring to keep it to themselves, fans speculate that their hypothetical friendship may have worked out. The two share some interests, such as their love for cats and would do anything for them, including sacrificing others to save them. One Twitter user commented on the fan art, “this is so cute, they will hate-love each other, Power will be so attached to Asa [in my opinion.]”
Who is the power of Chains Man and Asa?
Power is a third of the Hayakawa family known to fans as the Chainsaw Man, which includes her, Aki, and Denji. In the Hayakawa family, Power takes on the role of the annoying little sister who once tried to trade Denji’s life for the life of the cat Meowy. Over time, Power grew to love his makeshift family and considers Denji one of his close friends. Asa’s part, she suffers from distrust and low self-esteem. Connections with demons are not normal for her as she has established an unwanted relationship with the Demon of War and is currently trying to pursue a relationship with Denji.
Tatsuki Fujimoto wrote and illustrated Chainsaw Man, which released the first part in Weekly Shōnen Jump in December 2018. Although known for its dark material, which revolves around themes such as violence, the theme has a nature sex and gore, Chainsaw Man also delved into the more emotionally mature side of the matter. MAPPA produced an anime adaptation, about a young man named Denji who can turn into a demon named Chainsaw Man.
Fans can watch Power’s antics in Season 1 on Crunchyroll. The manga is available on Viz Media, with Chapter 130 releasing on May 23.
