The boat arc has officially ended and we are back to our old, nice, peaceful family life. I have to say, it’s nice to breathe a little. I’ve always found Becky’s persistent pursuit of Loid a bit strange. It’s no wonder, little girls are always fascinated like that. I just don’t know how to integrate it with the rest of the story. But I like the way they went with it. At the end of the day, you can’t help but love Yor ????
I’m not sure why but I’ve always liked Anya’s lack of loyalty. She loves her “Mom” and she will risk it all to help her even if it means fighting bad guys but as soon as she catches a glimpse of a soft room and meals delicious cooked by the chef, she is ready to change teams. The girl has her priorities straight! Speaking of comfortable rooms, I was quite amused by Anya’s unexpected delivery when she stopped the tour of the apartment right after Becky’s, which is to say impolite, comments.
There’s one small detail I really like about Becky, more specifically her daydreams. She imagines taking Loid away from his wife and being praised and loved for all the privileges she can bestow on her new family, but she doesn’t change them. Anya in her dream still acted a lot like Anya and wore her favorite black dress like she always did. Becky herself is wearing a series of grown-up dresses but Forgers is just barely wearing them. For some reason, I think that’s adorable.
But let’s face it, the episode starts to get intense when Yor shows up. She’s a much-needed foil and her effortless charm is enough to overcome even her greatest rival! Or should I say: rivalS. Becky and Yor punching were a great throwback to her and Anya doing the same. The boys at that school better be careful!
And then we met Fiona again. I also really like Fiona. Is there any sample here? Do I like all the girls in Spy x Family? Yes yes, I do. I don’t think there’s anything to worry about with that! Fiona is the same combination of soft and lethal as Yor but not quite as dull. That’s a shame. But you know, I really like how they show that even an extremely professional pragmatist is not immune to love. Isn’t that sweet? And although it’s used as a punchline here and there, the show never punishes Fiona or makes her seem less than for being so madly in love. If anything, it’s a strong point in her character. You would think that anyone who goes against my beloved Yor would have their points deducted immediately but Spy x Family has always been keen to present Fiona as her own valuable character. She may not have gotten what she wanted in the end but we still like her. What I’m saying is that even if there’s direct love competition, Spy x Family won’t pit the ladies against each other. Isn’t that great!
