Warning: Contains spoilers for chapter #244 of Jujutsu Kaisen.
Summary
Chapter #244 of Jujutsu Kaisen teases that Sukuna will do it again, thanks to a mistake by Gojo that prevented Higuruma from performing his cursed technique on Sukuna. Gojo’s decision to hold the battle on a national holiday unintentionally prevented Higuruma from issuing the death penalty, blocking another path to victory over Sukuna. Even if the death penalty is abolished, Higuruma’s plan to confiscate Sukuna’s Curse Technique remains uncertain, as it depends on the Judgeman successfully condemning Sukuna.
Jujutsu Kaisen Just teasing tribe will win again, and it’s all thanks joyous. The latest chapter returns to the exciting battle against Sukuna, where Yuji and Higuruma enter the battlefield with a plan to defeat Sukuna once and for all. However, this plan may fail completely because of Gojo’s mistake.
Chapter #244 of Jujutsu Kaisen reveals that Yuji and Higuruma plan to use Higuruma’s Cursed Technique to confiscate Sukuna’s Cursed Technique or kill him with a single blow using his Executioner’s Sword . However, Higuruma would not be able to carry out Sukuna’s death sentence just because of the day Gojo chose to go to war.
As user Although it was simply a hasty decision on Gojo’s part, it seemed like this oversight would close another path to victory against Sukuna.
Gojo picked the wrong day to fight Sukuna
Gojo chose the date of the battle after he was unsealed in chapter #221 of Jujutsu Kaisen, the reason for his choice was that he did not want Geto to have two death anniversary days and wanted to put his body to rest by defeating Kenjaku that same day. Geto is dead. Seeing Gojo make a decision right after escaping from prison, Gojo would be unaware of the impact his seemingly insignificant decision would have nor of Higuruma’s existence in that regard.
Gojo is notably missing in chapter #244 when the witches outline their plan of action in case Gojo is defeated. Therefore, Gojo may also not have known about the contingency plan regarding Higuruma’s technique. However, it is unclear whether the small detail regarding the date of this battle was avoided by Higuruma.

Sukuna’s true form in Jujutsu Kaisen is the ultimate insult to Gojo
Sukuna was eventually reincarnated in Jujutsu Kaisen, and his true form proves the war against Gojo may have been decided from the start.
Higuruma’s victory over Sukuna is uncertain
Even if the death penalty was removed, Higuruma’s Curse could still confiscate Sukuna’s Curse. However, as chapter #244 points out, this depends on Judgeman, Higuruma’s shikigami, being successful enough in convicting Sukuna of a serious crime. Even if he does, it is unclear how this ruling will affect Sukuna as he now possesses two Cursed Techniques including Megumi’s Ten Shadows. Even if either of them were taken away, victory against Sukuna, who was at full strength at the moment, was far from certain.
In retrospect, Gojo’s choice of the date of the battle due to his relationship with Geto seems to be foreshadowing this unfortunate turn of events, which would certainly be a masterful storytelling touch from Gege Akutami. Regardless, the fate of sorcerers seems grim, with Gojo’s mistake took away their only remaining shot at a certain victory. That said, there may still be a glimmer of hope, as the hopeless situation may finally allow Yuji the chance to break out of his shell and reestablish himself as the protagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen through his fateful battle against tribe.
