Spy×Family 34
Summary/SPOILER Summary
Loid discovers that the SSS and crew are worried about a bomb being discovered. Anya reads this in her father’s mind and covers for him by asking to go to the children’s play center. After Loid took off, Anya left the play center to find Yor. Loid disguises himself as a member of the crew with bomb disposal experience, so he is allowed to disarm the bomb.
Meanwhile, Anya discovers the thoughts of one of the assassins and moves forward, to the top of the ship. There, she found one of her mother’s “shabby things” and threw it onto the deck where Yor was fighting the swordsman. This causes a few other killers to have an accident, alerting Yor to the presence of the sharp knife, where she uses it to kill her opponent. At the same time, the wounded director shoots and kills the main assassin, forcing him to flee.
Trying to get back to the amusement center, Anya hears the thoughts of the main assassin, who discovers that his informant on the train has planted a bomb in the antique clock on the stairs leading up skylight. Anya informs the crew about a man cleaning a watch. The crew member decided to check and saw the bomb. Loid arrives and discovers there is no time left to disarm it so he throws it into the ocean.
Meanwhile, the director is injured and Yor sends Olka’s group on their way safely. The director warns Yor about becoming sentimental. However, he rewards her by telling her to spend the next day with Loid and Anya. Elsewhere, Loid returns to the play center, where Anya is sleeping. He took her home and lamented for abandoning his family. But then he remembers, Anya isn’t real family.
Thinking/Evaluating
I realize I’ve been saying this pretty much every episode lately, but with Spy×Family 34we will have another exciting outing.
Modify source documents
Source manga chapters 54 and 55 participated in the creation Spy×Family 34. However, it seemed like there wasn’t enough material to fill the time so some content was added to the episode.
The entire summary at the beginning of the episode is not in the manga. I don’t object because it allows new viewers to participate or reminds previous viewers of what happened before. Anya playing soccer at the play center is not in the manga. In fact, Anya left before the woman who ran the place could even talk to Anya. However, the additional details in the anime not only add more information but also make it a little more natural, even a little less funny. At the end of the episode, everything depicted about the morning on Anya’s ship, Loid, and in another cabin, Yor, is original to the anime. Here too, there’s nothing wrong with it as it shows everyone is ready for a day on the island. I thought it was a nice touch, especially given some of the extras in the episode.
As before, I noticed textual differences between the anime and manga subtitles. Without access to the Japanese source, I can’t tell if Viz is just changing the text from the manga or if the anime adaptation is modifying the text from the manga.
End of Yor’s adventure
We saw Yor kill his last opponent in Spy×Family 34. I liked how the director provided cover for her even though he was injured. Yor focused on her opponent and did not notice that the main assassin was about to shoot her. So while Yor is a great boss lady, she’s not infallible. And that’s what makes me like her even more.
I also like the symbolism of Olka and her child holding a bloody Yor after everything is resolved. To me, their acceptance of her as an evil killer with a good heart is also Loid’s way of accepting her. And Anya had accepted Yor for who he was, even more so considering how much Anya had silently helped. I didn’t think about this when reading the manga, but when watching the anime, Anya uses a move similar to when trying to throw a dodgeball. This time, however, her throwing out her mother’s “shit” (man, that makes me crazy) is right.
Another thing I like is the director’s appearance in this film. In addition to providing cover for her, the director is also Yor’s cover job boss and Garden yard boss. He realizes that Yor has feelings for Olka and her child. So he gives his official warning to Yor about this. However, at the same time, he is not a fool. The director gave Yor a day off to spend with her fake family because he knew she would love it. So it’s all quite interesting.
Loid’s Adventures
I assume that Loid got caught up in his own adventure in Spy×Family 34. The funny thing was that Loid didn’t know anything about the bloody battle that had just taken place on the sundeck. It’s true that Garden has worked hard to keep it that way. But he caught wind of the bomb whispers and took part in it. Of course, I couldn’t help but think: “So where did he get the mask and uniform so quickly?” ????
When all was said and done, I loved how he also considered Anya part of his family. Like Yor, he has to repair himself. After all, his marriage to Yor and adoption of Anya were only for espionage purposes. Then he will leave them. But as time passed, he also became sentimental. Anya became his biological daughter. I look forward to seeing more of this story.
Final thoughts and conclusions
As I write, there are storms in the area and Starlink Internet keeps going down. So while the internet is still up and running, let me finish my review on Spy×Family 34. I love the ending of this Yor-centric story, which not only gives her some character work but also showcases her awesomeness. And the episode also works for Anya and Loid. So I would love to see this. Can’t wait for the next episode!
