Sunrise’sGundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans returns with an announcement trailer
One of the most beloved Mobile Suit GTA titles is getting a sequel, with a new anime project for Iron Orphans announced on Twitter.
Fans on social media were mostly excited by the news, with some not only shocked that the anime received new information, but also that the project was announced back in December 2020. Code Geass: Z of the Recapture will be set in the alternate universe established by the compilation films released between 2017 and 2018. The announcement is the latest in Code Geass’s 10-year plan, which was also announced in 2020. However, other fans feel that the constant additions to the series have detracted from Season 2’s critically acclaimed conclusion.
Code Geass: Z of the Recapture’s staff roster has been released ahead of the upcoming reveal. Yoshimitsu Ohashi (Galaxy Angel) will direct the film, with Noboru Kimura (Gangsta, Requiem for the Phantom) writing the script, Takahiko Kimura handling the character designs, and Astrays designing the Knightmare. Code Geass: Z of the Recapture is inspired by the original series created by Sunrise, Ichiro Okochi and Goro Taniguchi, with original character designs by CLAMP. Taniguchi also directed One Piece Film: Red, which recently surpassed Princess Mononoke to become the 7th highest-grossing film of all time in Japan. His latest film, opening on January 5, 2024, will see robots, vampires and yakuza go head to head in Bloody Escape.
