Below are all the filler episodes included A piece and fans of the plot can safely skip ahead without missing anything important. Adapting Eiichiro Oda’s long-running manga, One Piece takes place in a world where pirates rule the seas and Monkey D. Luffy is just one of hundreds searching for the legendary treasure known as One Piece. . However, when it comes to weekly anime series, filler episodes are an unfortunate fact of life. Defined as anything not in the original manga, filler episodes are usually lighter, inconsequential stories written by the animation company to avoid playing catch-up to the manga.
Compared to shows like Naruto, Bleach, and Dragon Ball Z, the One Piece anime has surprisingly lighter filler. Despite having over 1,000 episodes, this TV show doesn’t veer into non-canon territory often, and the One Piece filler isn’t as bad as fans might see in other anime series. No Luffy and Zoro learning to drive here. A lot of One Piece episodes embellish legitimate manga material with non-canon extras – an extended fight scene here, some extra dialogue there – and these are definitely worth a watch, but the other scenes are completely fabricated and have no value.

How does One Piece’s additional content compare to other Shonen Anime?
As of the time of writing, One Piece has 94 additional episodes, accounting for just under 9% of the total number of episodes. That 9% number is actually quite impressive considering the many other huge shounen anime produced during its era. Naruto’s anime is made up of about 40% fillers while Bleach reaches about 45% fillers. Although One Piece’s 9% fill rate is considered low even compared to Dragon Ball’s 13% fill rate, it does not compare to many modern Shounen anime as My Hero Academia only has 3% while even Even recent hits like Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen don’t really have any filler at all.
However, for an anime that has been released weekly for over two decades, having to only use anime origin stories 9% of the time is an impressive achievement. However, considering One Piece’s manga is one of the longest-running by a single author, it’s no surprise that anime adaptations often encounter gaps when there isn’t enough material to adapt. . This ultimately comes down to the series’ animation studio, Toei, being very smart about what scenes the manga expansion warrants. one piece the backlist is truly a testament to the series’ impressive length and scope.
