Gege Akutami's Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the most successful manga of the past decade.
Debuting in 2018, it has become the face of modern shonen manga in just six years. Now, the end of Jujutsu Kaisen is upon us. The manga is currently in the final stages of the Shinjuku Showdown arc. This is the final arc and features the climactic battle between Sukuna and the jujutsu wizards, starting with the long-awaited clash between Gojo and Sukuna.
Jujutsu Kaisen will end with chapter 271 on September 30, 2024.
This means that there are only four chapters left until the series ends. However, there are still many unresolved plot points that the story needs to answer before it can be completely finished.
1. What happened to Jin Itadori?
Jin Itadori is Yuji's father. For a long time, he didn't seem to play a major role in the plot. He died at some point during Yuji's childhood. Yuji must have been very young at the time because he only vaguely remembers his father's face, but we don't know how he died.
However, Jin's role in the story becomes more complicated when we learn that Yuji's biological mother is Kenjaku, who possesses the body of Kaori Itadori (Jin's real dead wife). Furthermore, he is also the reincarnated soul of Sukuna's twin brother.
That means Jin is the link between Sukuna and Yuji. Since they are the antagonist and the protagonist, it is safe to say that there is more to Jin than what we know. But so far, we know little to nothing about this character.
2. What is the relationship between Kenjaku and Tengen?
Kenjaku and Tengen are both very mysterious characters. While one is determined to destroy for fun, Tengen carries the fate of humanity itself. Despite their opposing roles, they also have some similarities.
Both were ancient magicians who escaped death and lived for centuries. They were also friends at some point in the past. However, we do not know how two individuals so different from each other and standing on opposite ends of the moral spectrum could have been friends.
It would be interesting to see their past together. Even though Jujutsu Kaisen only has four more chapters left, it would still be nice to get a better understanding of their past together even if it's just through a few sentences.
3. Will Yuji ever find out about his parents?
Yuji being the “son of Kenjaku” was one of the most shocking plot twists in Jujutsu Kaisen and it changed both characters forever in the eyes of readers. Kenjaku gave birth to the main character, which means there's more to Yuji's origin than we expected.
With the connection between Jin and Sukuna, the motive becomes even more mysterious. Yuji doesn't know the truth about his parents, at least not yet. Jujutsu Kaisen should address this plot because it would be a real waste not to do so.
4. How will the deaths of Gojo and Sukuna affect the curse?
Gojo and Sukuna were two of the most powerful jujutsu masters of all time. Gojo's birth changed the balance of the world. His overwhelming power tilted the balance of the jujutsu masters too much, increasing the power of the curse in the process of maintaining the balance.
On the contrary, Sukuna is the strongest being in the manga at the moment. Dubbed the King of Curses, the mere existence of his cursed fingers is enough to increase the power and frequency of cursed spirits.
But now that Gojo is dead and Sukuna is too, how will the curses be affected? They'll probably be weaker than before since the threat is over. But we won't know for sure until the manga resolves this plot.
5. Will Yuki's vision ever come true?
Yuki Tsukumo is no ordinary sorcerer. She is one of the four Special Class sorcerers, possessing a powerful cursed technique. However, what makes her unique is not her power, but her vision.
Yuki is well acquainted with the cruel nature of the jujutsu world. Hundreds of jujutsu masters have died protecting civilians from the curse. However, while Geto wants to eradicate injustice by killing all non-jujutsu masters, Yuki has something more noble in mind.
She wants to eliminate the cursed energy itself, making the appearance of cursed spirits impossible and the need for jujutsu masters redundant. It's a difficult task, but it's the only happy ending possible in the future. Jujutsu Kaisen needs to tell us whether her desired vision will ever come true before it ends.
