Summary
My Hero Academia balances drama and comedy, providing great moments for both throughout the film. Comedy in manga can come from a variety of sources such as funny characters, humorous situations, and unexpected surprises. Anime takes funny moments with music, effects, and editing that enhance the humor and make them truly memorable.
Like many manga, My Hero Academy attempts to bridge the gap between drama and comedy, and the result is a series filled with great moments of both genres. While the end of My Hero Academia was obviously more dramatic, there were a lot of great comedic moments that arose in the previous installments of the story.
Comedy in manga can come from many different places. Usually, characters are created with some element of humor built in, which creators can rely on to break the tension. Sometimes comedy is situational, placing unexpected characters in situations they are ill-equipped to deal with, while for others the comedy comes from the left field. . This series is packed with hilarious scenes, and the ones listed below are some of the best in My Hero Academia.
All Might’s secret love child
Episode 19 of My Hero Academia opens with Todoroki confronting Midoriya about his similarities to All Might. Things get very dramatic when Todoroki finally asks the question he’s been wondering: “Are you really All Might’s secret child or something?” Midoriya immediately fell into futile self-defence, admitting that Todoroki could hardly believe his denial even when he denied it. It’s especially hilarious because early on in the series, it’s likely that many fans wondered if that was the case.
hero name
In episode 26, it was time for the students to choose their hero’s name… and they were terrible at it. Aoyama stepped up with a single “I Can’t Stop Twinkling” as his name, which sounded both ridiculous and horrible. Mina then tries to name herself the “Alien Queen” after the creature in the film, but is shot down even though Aoyama’s gruesome name is accepted. However, Bakugo’s hero name takes things to the next level, as the names he proposes involve words like “murder” and “death”, hardly befitting a hero. hero. Bonus points for threatening to take classmates out and “showing them why murder should be done [his] name.”
Lemillion’s Special Launch
Mirio Togata is one of the top students at UA, but his Quirk makes things awkward when he uses it for the first time. In episode 63, Lemillion urged the students of Class 1-A to attack him, and Deku took the lead, preparing to attack his upperclassman. That’s when Mirio activated his Quirk, Permeation, making him invisible – including his clothes. The uniform that Mirio was wearing fell off before Deku could continue the attack, leaving poor Jiro scarred upon seeing him. After that, Mirio continued hitting the class naked, showing them how far they still had to go.
Deku’s long-awaited bathroom
After weeks of being a bodyguard without any proper support, Midoriya finally returns to the dorm at UA in episode 138. The boys from Class 1-A dash Deku through the corridors as if it were emergency—then stripped him of his clothes and threw him in the tub. A bit abrupt, as it happens first after the opening credits, the sense of urgency evokes the stark contrast of the playful image. This is actually the crux of a joke much earlier, as Kaminari had previously urged Deku to return to UA specifically to take a shower, and given his surly wary look, he definitely needs It.
Army twice
Twice is already a pretty funny character with his divisive personality and frequent jokes, but episode 110 pushed things to the next level when there were hundreds of clever Twice clones around. Despite the ongoing battle, the Twice clones party and dance to their fullest, even as they rush to rescue Mr. Compress and others. They even made it difficult for each other, joking about their fighting abilities. Perhaps the funniest is that when a few dozen copies of Twice were wiped out, the rest shouted, “Oh, no! I!”
Grandfather. Laugh Vs. Bakugou
Mr. Smiley is a villain who appeared in the season 5 OVA episode, “Laughs! It’s like you’re in hell.” Mr. Smiley is not a villain; he was merely drawing silly graffiti, but his Quirk made everyone who saw his face start laughing uncontrollably, for up to two hours. That leads to a lot of hilarity, but it’s his confrontation with Bakugo that tops the charts. After Deku tried to stop him, Bakugo tore off his blindfold and saw Mr. Smiley – apparently killed him instantly. The joke is only enhanced by Mr.’s hilarious Ska music. Smiley and the voiceover accompanies each shot of his face, making “Mr. Smiley” becomes charismatic.
Kindergarten Threats
As part of the remedial training in episode 79, Bakugo and Todoroki had to attend a special session, whose goal was to discipline some of the younger students. The kids started picking both, calling poor Shoto “Five Wiener” for the cylindrical objects on his belt. He calmly tries to explain to the kids, of course they just see this as an excuse to become louder and more obnoxious about the joke. Bakugo is equally bad, as the kids immediately call him out when he screams. Bakugo’s solution was to tie up the children’s leader and let the others throw rocks at him, a humorous response Bakugo made when dealing with the children.
Shigaraki gets to have dinner
Episode 112 of My Hero Academia is a mostly serious episode that focuses on Tomura Shigaraki, which is why the little bit of humor in it is especially funny. After defeating Re-Destro in a great battle, Shigaraki thought back to Mr. Compress about the food they ate recently, and grinned as he asked his rival about being the CEO of Detnerat. In the next scene, members of the Criminal Alliance are eating sushi, apparently bought with Detnerat’s coins, Dabi complains that he doesn’t like fish. It’s both the ultimate symbol of Re-Destro’s failure and a hilarious moment from a character that’s too scary to be really funny.
What’s the matter, doctor?
The English dub of My Hero Academia occasionally inserts jokes of its own into the show, and one of the best examples of this happens in episode 114, the season 6 premiere. In it, Mirko is attacked the hospital base where Doctor Garaki, one of All for One’s closest allies, created Nomu. Mirko knocks down several Nomu, then knocks down a door, implementing Garaki’s escape plan. When she saw him, he reacted in horror, and Mirko said, “What’s the matter, doctor?” refer to the famous quote of Bugs Bunny. Mirko herself has rabbit-like features, and Garaki is a doctor, so this line is so fitting and so surprising that one can’t help but laugh.
Deku imitates all powers
Perhaps the funniest moment of My Hero Academia occurs in episode 65, when Deku is trying to win over Sir Nighteye, All Might’s former partner who now runs a hero company. Sir Nighteye is known to be a great admirer of All Might’s, even after the two were at odds, and collects large amounts of All Might merchandise. Mirio also warns Deku that Sir Nighteye will only hear him if Deku can make him laugh. Midoriya puts these two together and the first words that come out of his mouth are a hilarious impression of All Might. To add to the humour, the whole plan backfired, Sir Nighteye wondering if Deku was mocking All Might. The episode ends with Mirio exclaiming, “Oh, no! He’s not funny!”, This might be the funniest point to end.
The funniest moments in My Hero Academia are often unexpected moments, using the element of surprise to add humor. While many of these moments are great in the manga, having the anime encapsulate these moments with music, effects, or editing can enhance the humor even further, turning silly moments into cliches. laugh is really memorable. My Hero Academy may not be known for its humorous elements first and foremost, but when the series manages to pull off a joke, it’s always a good story.
