Romance isn't a prerequisite for making an engaging anime, but love stories are a common theme in many anime.
Characters like Naruto, who finds his soulmate in Hinata, and Inuyasha, who eventually marries Kagome, both have heartwarming romantic storylines.
However, many well-written and fan-favorite characters don't have any romantic relationships in their stories.
Not every anime character needs a romance, and their stories are often incomplete without a romantic plot.
Still, the prospect of how their lives and personalities might have developed romantically is a fascinating contemplation.
After all, countless fanfics are written with romance as the main theme, and a well-constructed love story involving a beloved character can be irresistibly appealing.
10) Miyako needs a companion to support:
The Guardian of “Oshi no Ko” Also Deserves Love
Initially, in “Oshi no Ko”, all Miyako wanted was a handsome man. While this may not be the most noble of aspirations, Miyako grew up to be a truly caring and loving protector of Aqua and Ruby.
After her husband, Ichigo, disappeared and left her alone to manage Strawberry Productions, Miyako deserved a more mature companion who could support her when needed.
The anime does not delve into her relationship with Ichigo, but it is clear that she has no feelings, considering her craving for the attention of attractive men.
Miyako certainly doesn't need a romantic partner, but it would be nice to see her get the love she craves and, more importantly, have someone who can support her in guiding Ruby and Aqua through their teenage years.
9) Sein Pines for a romantic adventure:
“Frieren: Beyond Journey's End” Just give him a pat on the head
Although romance has never been Sein's top priority, he has mentioned several times that he would easily fall in love with a beautiful older woman, with the exception of Frieren.
Sadly, fans don't get to see much of this as he eventually splits off from Frieren and her group to join in on a journey to find his old friend and embark on an adventure with him.
It would be interesting to see Sein form his own caravan. One of the members could be the older woman he desires, or it could be someone completely different from the one he imagined.
Regardless, it would be great to see a partner who compliments and helps Sein gain more confidence as the adventurer and hero he aspires to be, rewarding him with love and affection instead of just pats on the head.
8) Jean Havoc deserves a happy ending:
“Fullmetal Alchemist” made him suffer
All Jean Havoc ever wanted was a girlfriend – someone beautiful to love and to be loved by. He believed he had found that special someone in “Solaris”, but she turned out to be a homunculus using him for her own purposes.
He was stupid to fall for the trap, but he didn't deserve to go through a near-death experience that left him disabled.
Surviving the traumatic events of “Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood,” Jean has won the love of her dreams.
A simple man in soul, a handsome face, cherishing his life and not wanting to kill him is enough.
Perhaps, after Jean's ability to walk is restored thanks to the Philosopher's Stone that Roy gave him, he will find a warm romance with the nurse who assisted him with his physical rehabilitation.
7) New chapter of Maquia awaits:
The main character of “Maquia” also deserves love.
Maquia's journey to motherhood is one she takes on her own, even after a childhood friend offers to marry her and take care of her.
She neither needed nor wanted romance at the time, as she was solely focused on her son. However, after breaking up with him, Maquia was left with a whole new life ahead of her.
The lesson Maquia learned was that even though she knew she would outlive the people she loved, she should still find joy in every moment with them.
This is a beautiful message, but Maquia also deserves a companion who can share her sadness and experiences.
A man who understands her sadness but still appreciates the beauty of love and life with her would be perfect.
6) Kallen's love future:
The Warriors of “Code Geass” Deserve a Real Romance
Despite all of Lelouch's lies and deceptions, Kallen still falls in love with him during the events of *Code Geass*, though their relationship never comes to fruition.
With larger problems at hand, their affections must take a back seat to the war between Japan and Britannia.
Kallen was still young, with her whole life ahead of her. Now that she and Japan were free, there was nothing stopping her from pursuing a romance if she wanted to.
After her old love, Lelouch, left, it was a joy to see Kallen loved in a way she never had before.
Someone who is not afraid of her strong personality or fighting prowess and is willing to support her when she is called into duty would be ideal.
5) Suzaku's Second Chance at Love:
The hero of “Code Geass” deserves happiness
Suzaku Kururugi must bear one of the greatest burdens in anime: living as Zero, the symbol of freedom and liberation, for the rest of his life.
At only 18 years old, he had suffered this fate, barely an adult by Western standards. He could still mourn Euphemia, but it was disheartening to think that Suzaku would spend the rest of his life without ever loving anyone again.
Seeing Suzaku fall in love a second time will give him a chance to find the happiness he lost when he was young. A love affair will also give him someone to care for.
He is protective and has a strong sense of responsibility; having someone to care for will give him a renewed sense of purpose.
In return, this person can see through his facade and protect him from his own destructive tendencies.
4) When will Sanji find true love?:
“One Piece” Chef Deserves a Real Romance
Sanji claims he found the love of his life in every beautiful woman he met on every island around the world.
He may even be content with flirting and admiring any pretty girl he likes, but it would be interesting to see him settle down with someone who can hold his attention forever.
Imagine a love that captures Sanji's heart so much that they become the only one he sees among a sea of beautiful women.
There can be a lovely irony when someone is completely useless in the kitchen, giving Sanji every reason to cook for them.
As long as they love Sanji, they will be pampered with delicious meals and delicious dishes, creating a fitting end to a long-running series that has spanned over 20 seasons.
3) Hawks deserve a loving mate:
My Hero Academia's Heroes Need Affection
Keigo Takami, also known as the hero Hawks in “My Hero Academia”, has had a difficult life.
Born into a family lacking food and wealth, with an abusive father and an irresponsible mother, he is forced to kill someone he believes deserves a second chance and later discovers that his mother has revealed his secret identity to the enemy.
Yet somehow, Hawks remains optimistic. With all the good things Hawks has done and is doing, it would be heartwarming to see him receive the warmth and affection he lacked as a child.
Being a hero, as “My Hero Academia” illustrates, is a heavy burden. The job requires lying and keeping secrets, which can be isolating.
A loving and supportive partner will help Hawks maintain the strength needed to continue his demanding work, despite his love for it.
2) Aizawa needs a partner:
The teacher of “My Hero Academia” also deserves love
Shota Aizawa, who is willing to sacrifice his life for his students, treats class 1-A like his own children.
When Eri needed a home, he took care of her as if she were his own daughter. In his career, Aizawa is a hero; in his heart, he is a father.
It would be cute and helpful to give Aizawa someone to help raise the children under his command.
Seeing his partner bring coffee to class or tuck him in during breaks is a charming family image for a man who has made it his career to nurture a generation of young saviors.
It was also interesting to see Aizawa's students tease him about his deep love.
1) Kakashi's Hidden Heart:
Naruto Shippuden's Mysterious Man Deserves Love
Kakashi Hatake, Naruto's first sensei after graduating from the ninja academy, the first captain of Team 7 and the sixth Hokage of Konoha, is an extremely talented and impressive shinobi.
He leads an entire village without ever showing his face to anyone. It would be interesting if there was at least one person who had the honor of seeing Kakashi's face in his most private, vulnerable moments—someone he felt safe sharing his every emotion with.
Kakashi's willingness to take off his mask and symbolize the weight of all his experiences in front of his lover could be the foundation for a beautiful relationship based on trust and support. Perhaps they could also share his love of erotic fiction.
While romance isn't a necessary element for a great anime, exploring the hidden love lives of beloved characters can add an intriguing layer to their stories.
Whether it's Miyako finding a supportive partner, Sanji settling down with the one who captures his heart, or Aizawa finding a partner who helps him raise students, these characters all deserve the chance to experience the joys and complexities of love.
